It was in the midst of a cold dark winter night, when Aamir was on the streets of a small town in Madhya Pradesh.
He had gone there with his co star Kareena Kapoor in the film 3 Idiots. This whole venture is for the promotion of the film.

As he and kareena met up in the high street of the town of Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh, India, they headed straight for the Khooni Darwaza on which he was supposed to knock. After both of them knocked on the door unnoticed by anyone, they headed for the place where the weaver of the famous Chanderi sari’s live.

Once there, they were shown some of the finest works of art by the weavers Aamir really liked one with a black and gold work. He asked the weavers how much the piece had cost them so they said it was six and a half thousand. Then he asked how much it would be sold in the market for, and they told him it would be around twenty five thousand Rupees.

Now, the kind hearted Aamir bought the sari for Kareena at the market price. Then, he went on to buy a beautiful white red and gold sari for his wife Kiran.

Then they were taken inside the work shop where the handlooms of the sari weavers were kept. Aamir learnt how to use the loom and as he made one line of the weaving it was slightly tighter than the original, so there was a dark line formed in the weave. Asthe weavers told him that they would remove it, he asked them not to do that. So, even Kareena was asked to weave a line in that sari.

As she did so, Aamir said that this was going to be the mark that he and Kareena were actually there. He also
Promised that once the sari would be completed it would be auctioned and the sale proceeds would be given to the weavers.

As for the recognizing part, no one was able to recognize him or Kareena and thus the second leg of the promotion ended with this trip.

In Varanasi Aamir has given out five rings to the people who were able to identify him, these are the passes to the film’s premier. None have been given out in MP as yet. So keep a watch and if in India you just might be the next lucky one.
