Bollywood superhit Jab We Met is being remade in Tamil with Tamanna and Bharath in lead roles.

Starring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur in lead roles, the Hindi movie by director Imtiaz Ali told the story of a feisty Punjabi girl who meets a stranger on a train and befriends him. While the man gradually falls in love with the girl, she remains confused about her feelings.

The Tamil remake is being directed by Mani Ratnam’s protégé Kannan and jointly produced by Moser Baer and Blue Ocean Entertainment.

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor may be estranged but they have agreed to come together to the aid of director, Boney Kapoor.

The two were part of Boney Kapoor’s project Milenge Milenge. This was even before their shooting for the super hit Jab We Met.

But their split happened and the two refused to dub for the movie initially.

And now, the two have relented and agreed to dub for the movie.

It is believed that Boney’s request Shahid dubbed his portions few months back and Kareena has agreed to dub for it too.

The Tamil remake of blockbuster Bollywood hit ‘Jab We Met’ was tentatively titled ‘Raja Rani’. However, the production house Moserbaer has now opted for a title change. The new title for the movie is ‘Oruvarai Oruvar Sandhithom’.

Starring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, ‘Jab We Met’ was a big hit wooing youngsters to theatres in Mumbai. To be remade in Tamil starring Bharath and Tamanna in the lead cast, the movie will be directed by Kannan, a former associate of Mani Ratnam. He recently churned out Jayam Kondan starring Vinay and Bhavana. Moserbaer promises that that the Tamil version would be a thorough entertainer and we would make suitable changes in the script to suit Tamil audience, said the director.

A local court of Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh issued an arrest warrant against the Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor starrer Jab We Met’s writer-director Imtiaz Ali.

Chief Judicial Magistrate M K Jain acted on a charge sheet submitted by Mr Yogesh Sharma who was hurt over the film depicting this town as a den of prostitution. Mumbai-based Ashtvinayak Cine Vision Private Limited, Shahid and Kareena were also named as accused.

Ali failed to appear in court yesterday. November 11 was set as the next date for hearing.
