Kareena Kapoor feels that she has managed to strike the right balance between commercial and meaningful cinema. The actress likes doing different roles and can’t do just those films where she is looking pretty and singing and dancing. The actress considers her debut film ‘Refugee’ (2000), a special one because she always wanted to prove herself as an actress and not to just as a glam doll. Bebo further says films like ‘Refugee’, ‘Chameli’, ‘Omkara’, ‘Jab We Met’, ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Kurbaan’ – all have been very different. She doesn’t think that any other actress has been able to do such a variety of roles in such a short journey.

Meanwhile Karan Johar has asked Kareena to lose weight and chop off her hair to fit in the character of his next film ‘Short Term Shaadi’ opposite Imran Khan. But Bebo denies it, saying that she isn’t going to lose weight. Besides, she says that she is not going to lose weight for anyone. The actress made this comment during the promotion of her forthcoming flick ‘We Are Family’. The film is releasing on 3rd September. However, she confirms having gained a little weight recently, but doesn’t regret it.

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor might have shared some hot and intimate scenes with her boyfriend Saif Ali Khan in Kurbaan but she is adamant not to repeat it. The latest we hear is that Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine has been pushed to the backseat, as Kareena is not happy with love-making scenes.

Kareena should get intimate with five different men in Bhandarkar’s Heroine if she were to go by the original script. Her role is said to be based on several actresses including Marilyn Monroe and Divya Bharti. But surprisingly, the director is said to have been forced to rewrite the love-making portion after the actress expressed her displeasure.

However, Kareena denied the news that she has forced the makers of Heroine to edit the love-making scenes. She said that they would start shooting for the film when Bhandarkar is ready with the script. She is currently busy with Agent Vinod while Bhandarkar is busy with Dil To Bachcha Hai Jee.

Try cornering Karan Johar and chances are that you would get a totally different spin to the story, something that would make you go by the flow offered by him. It wasn’t many days back when there was a strong buzz around how Ajay Devgn was not too pleased about the prominence that Kajol was getting in the promotional drive of We Are Family. It was said that he felt Kareena Kapoor was placed equal to Kajol, something which was sacrilege since she was a decade junior to the powerhouse performer who had proven her mettle once again with My Name Is Khan earlier this year. However, try probing the producer about it and he comes back with a cheeky response.

“Come on, any kind of publicity is good publicity so I don’t mind if there have been speculations around this”, winks Karan for whom We Are Family is his third release of the year after My Name Is Khan and I Hate Luv Storys, “I am told that this news resulted in some debate. Good, I don’t mind that.”

Nevertheless, on his actors’ behalf, he is quick to laugh away the entire so-called controversy.

“Do you think that whether it is Kajol or Kareena, they require any reconfirmation or reaffirmation from anyone around”, questions Karan who is known to share a special bond with Kajol and has returned with Kareena in a big way since Kurbaan, “Kajol is the senior most in We Are Family, is one of the biggest strengths in the film and is clearly the best in the business. As for Kareena, she is a confident actress and can never be insecure. She knows her space.”

On a serious note, Karan adds, “In any case, there are no quotes from either of them where they have expressed their displeasure around the way they have been pitched. Moreover, I don’t believe that anyone around them has made any statement in this regard either.”

He goes on to extend the adage of We Are Family even further as he sings praises about the two leading ladies who have come together again close to a decade after Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

“Whether it is Kajol or Kareena, they are because of their own individuality”, he says, “They never get into this talk of ‘Oh, I want more screen space’ or ‘I need this punch-line’. They are very assured of their talent. In fact I used to get a call from sets that they had become best buddies as they got along so famously.”

In a humorous tone, he concludes, “Never did I hear from Siddharth Malhotra (the director) or another crew member that there was a discomfort on sets due to any cold vibes between the two women. Sometimes I wish there was! They brought the house on fire but if at all there was that one spark due to the cold vibes, it would have been good naa! After all I would have got some PR peg to play around with.”

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan must be having a blast on the set of their upcoming movie Agent Vinod! The on-and-off- screen couple was spotted partying with the crew of the spy flick in Morocco and it sure looked like they were enjoying themselves!

Directed by Sriram Raghvan, the spy movie will star the couple as two spies. Bebo will play a Pakistani CIA agent and Saif her complete opposite. Sounds like we have another Kurbaan scenario on our hands! Or could it be a Bollywood remake of the Hollywood spy flick Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie?

Ok, so the makers of ‘Milenge Milenge’ have led everyone to believe that their film is a success. While some may argue that how a film that nets just a little over 10 crores in its first week could be termed as a success in today’s time, especially since it stars top players like Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, producer Boney Kapoor has a strong reasoning. After all, the film was made on a medium budget half a decade back and even if one counted the interest, the ROI (return on investment) has been gladdening.

No, this doesn’t by any means indicate that the film is one of those hits that its actors would be extremely proud. Well, even if they want to be, they can’t since they didn’t promote the film. Ironical, isn’t it, since for Shahid this film has turned out to be his second consecutive success after ‘Badmaash Company’? Of course the film isn’t sustaining at the box office on the same lines as ‘Badmaash Company’ and has taken a fall but still the money earned is in a decent enough range to kept it’s investors smiling.

A few months back, the makers of Himesh Reshammiya starrer ‘Radio’ too had proclaimed their film to be an investment hit since they had presumably recovered their entire investment before the release. Though the film had done poor business at the box office, the producers were supposed to be in green. However, the distributors did loose money. This is not the case with ‘Milenge Milenge’ though since Boney Kapoor himself is the distributor as well which ensures that no one looses money eventually.

However, money has been lost in case of ‘Red Alert – The War Within’ which is the case of a good effort going unnoticed. Theatrical failure of this Ananth Mahadevan directed film makes one wonder if audience can really be enticed to get into theaters when told explicitly that X film is based on a real life issue. It seems that they automatically detach themselves from such films and wait for it to arrive on home video or satellite rather than spending their hard earned money on something which doesn’t give them their dose of escapist entertainment. This has been seen even in a commercial set up like ‘Kurbaan’ that boasted of the likes of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. This mistake wasn’t committed by the makers of ‘New York’ who never sold the film as an ‘issue based film about innocent people being lodged in US jails’. Or for that matter a small effort like ‘A Wednesday’ who actually sold the film as a plain and simple thriller about a few hours rather than something which would open up a can of worms. Point to ponder?

With the film barely managing to complete a week at the box office and hardly in the running in the second week, ‘Red Alert – The War Within’ would have to live with the fact that it got great reviews and appreciation for Mahadevan and Suniel Shetty but no moolah!

Every girl wants to be really slim and I think I am quite slim. India’s size zero is associated with me and I am proud of that.”

Well judging by the latest ad campaign Kareena is eating and she is looking healthier than ever so fans don’t need to worry; not only does Bebo eat; she also enjoys ‘the vivacity of life.’ “‘GO VIVID’ is an expression that transcends simplicity, and highlights the vivacity of life. Bebo’s role has been described as a ‘tomboy’ and will be far from some of the more glam parts she has taken on in the past: “My look in Golmaal 3 is not glamorous. He’s young and grunge and maintenance of the weather and the appearance of Goa in mind. I play a tomboy, but with a feminine touch. Although to use language Tapori not be too abusive or vulgar. I will agree with my personality,” Kareena told reporters when asked about her role.

This is not the first time the “Kurbaan” star has had to take the glamour level down a notch. For her role in Karan Johar’s remake of the 1998 Julia Roberts movie “Stepmom,” the Bollywood beauty will portray an ordinary working woman, a stepmom. “I walk, talk and dress like an ordinary working girl. I’ll be using no makeup,” she revealed, adding “I’m going for a new hairstyle,” said about this part.
Sounds like everyone wants to take Kareena from glam to gloomy! “The last time I rehearsed for a part it was for Vishal Bhardwaj’s “Omkara.” However, that was a more unconventional film and role where I had to get into a milieu and character I knew nothing about. But Stepmom is urban and very contemporary. I play a very normal metro-centric working girl. It should’ve been easier,” Bebo added.

“Refugee” tells the story of Manzur Ahmed, a man who lives in Bihar, India but who decides to move to East Pakistan in 1948. When his family reaches Bhuj near the Pakistani border they are helped by a cold hearted man known as Refugee, played by Abhi. He helps them get to Pakistan. Refugee is also involved in refugee trafficking, but when he falls in love with Nazneen, played by Bebo, he changes attitude. Unfortunately, Nazneen has been promised to a Pakistani man.
The heart-breaking story seems to have Kareena longing for more on-screen time with Abhishek. Maybe she is tired of working with her own boyfriend, Saif Ali Khan? The two co-starred in “Kurbaan,” a movie that tells the story of an undercover terrorist, played by Saif, and his wife, played by Kareena. Saif Ali Khan’s character becomes a suave gentleman to hide his cover as a terrorist.
