Kareena Kapoor is an adamant girl of sorts. The girl hails from a khandaan that religiously thrives on hardcore non vegetarian diet. But surprisingly, she has refused a whopping Rs 6 crore offer to endorse a chicken brand.

Reportedly, Bebo, who turned a disciplined vegetarian while dating Shahid Kapoor has turned down a tempting endorsement offer. And the brand failed to persuade the pretty lass who was hell bent on her convictions.

Ironically, the girl who once used to relish sumptuous non-vegetarian diet was voted by PETA as the world’s sexiest vegetarian in 2008.

A tabloid had quoted Kareena as saying, “If my fans are looking up to me and have turned vegetarians then I am happy about it. I am a pure vegetarian and it helps me keep fit and healthy. I am aware that my fans have liked my look in Tashan. If they turn vegetarian for that, then I am glad I set an example.”

Kareena is so happy going green that she has been taking charge of converting non-vegetarians into complete herbivores! Vivek Oberoi (Bebo’s ‘Kurbaan’ co-star), who apparently ate a variety of non-vegetarian food plans to turn a vegetarian owing to her influence.

However, Bebo has been finding it very hard to convince her beau Chote Nawab of Pataudi, Saif Ali Khan embrace vegetarianism. A strict vegetarian now, Kareena cannot stand the smell of an egg even.

Buzz has it that the actress, who had to eat egg for a scene in her latest flick ‘Short Term Shaadi’ opposite Imran Khan was on the verge of puking on seeing eggs.

Shahid might no longer be a part of Kareena’s life but the habit that he inculcated in her shall remain with her for ever.

Are we right Bebo?

After their former movie ‘Kurbaan’ bombed at the box-office, both Chottey Nawab and his would-be begum Kareena Kapoor seem to have taken their forthcoming flick ‘Agent Vinod’ a bit too seriously.

Well recently, Saif’s sweetheart and the leading lady of ‘Agent Vinod,’ Bebo got her neck injured while performing a stunt on the sets of ‘Agent Vinod.’

But, as if to prove that nothing can deter her from giving her all to her beau’s film, the bombshell popped in painkillers and switched back to work.

Giving details about how Kareena got hurt, a source close to the film unit said, “Yesterday she had to eject from a helicopter using a harness and fire guns while at it. She fell from the harness at some distance from the ground, spraining her neck. She was in a lot of pain and couldn’t get up.”

Fortunately, two medical teams were at hand on the sets and in a flash of seconds medical aid was catered to Kareena.

In a conversation with the media, an injured Kareena said, “I am currently not on medication but ointments and painkillers and am still shooting for Agent Vinod.”

On hearing the news of the accident, beau Saif, who was not present at the shoot location, became quite disturbed and kept on calling Bebo every hour to ask her about her wellbeing.

Till date, Kareena has stolen hearts with her romantic movies, she had us in fits of laughter with her comedy flicks, but in ‘Agent Vinod,’ she will be seen doing stunts, which she has done never before.

In ‘Agent Vinod’ Bebo will be doing all the action feats all by herself, and the hottie is too thrilled for this new endeavor.

When asked about her stunt sequences, Kareena said, “I have not done this kind of action before. I had a neck sprain as I had to do a fall from the harness. I never thought I would enjoy action but I am surprised how much I love it here. Peter, the action guy, makes things so easy.”

‘Agent Vinod’ inspired by ‘James Bond’?
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, ‘Agent Vinod’ is an action-packed spy movie featuring Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor as the lead pair.

Since ‘Agent Vinod’ is a detective drama, scuttlebutts have it that it has been inspired by ‘James Bond.’

However, the hero and producer, Saif rebuffed the rumors and said, “Everyone will expect a Bond rip-off out of “Agent Vinod”, and that is something we are being wary of. First of all, James Bond is very debonair and, you know, impeccably dressed and unruffled in situations. Vinod is not like that! Vinod is a little bit Bond and a little bit Tintin!

“He doesn’t look like Tintin, but Tintin is quite an adventure – the situations that he finds himself in are quite unique, interesting and larger than life. Vinod is closer to that.”

‘Agent Vinod’ is being produced by Saif Ali Khan and co-produced by Dinesh Vijan.

Celebrated music composer Pritam is compiling music for the film.

“I still feel like I’m on seventh heaven,” declares actress Kareena Kapoor. But her heady feeling is not so much to do with her rather successful innings last year or having the most biggies this year.

Instead the Bolly beauty — who recently returned from a romantic Alpine break with beau Saif Ali Khan — is still basking in the memories of her recent vacation. Never mind that the actress has already kick-started her work this year with Salman Khan for the remake of Bodyguard and is currently shooting in Pune for it.

Though excited about the busy year ahead, she admits that it’s also going to be “a crazy one.” “Saif and I are going to be in a long-distance relationship till April,” she jokes. “And even then we are coming together for professional reasons, as we begin the shoot on Agent Vinod. Till then he is busy with Aarakshan and I’m busy with this film.” Kareena is however quick to add, that she can’t ‘imagine being away from Saif for so long’. “Our love is really the most important thing for both of us and so, we’ll definitely take a day or two off for each other regularly.”

Talking about her being paired opposite Saif, she says, that the chemistry in this film will definitely be different from their last outing together in Kurbaan. “I do deal with guns in the film, but I’m no Bond girl to Saif, nor am I any femme fatale,” she clarifies about her role.

More excited about working with the Khans all year through, than about her being the highest paid actresses or the one of the highest paid brand endorsers, she says that she doesn’t take competition in Bollywood seriously. “I don’t care about the number game and I definitely don’t take any such tags seriously at all. But it’s good to be working with the best in the industry. They bring out the best in you too.” Talking about competition, it’s hard not to ask about Priyanka Chopra…“What about her?” shoots back Kareena before adding, “We are not the best of friends, sure, but we aren’t enemies either. I respect her as an actor. So much has already been written about the two of us and I don’t even understand why!”

In her short career, Kareena Kapoor has received five Filmfare Awards and has been noted for her performances in a range of film genres; these include her work from contemporary romantic dramas to comedies, period films to major Bollywood productions, as well as less publicized independent films. Her first Bollywood debut was REFUGEE were she was starred opposite Abhishek Bachchan.

In the movie ASHOKA, Kareena shared the screen with SRK. Although the movie failed to make an impact, the chemistry between them was loved a hit. Although they did not star opposite each other in KABHI KHUSHI KABHI GHAM, the movie was one of the biggest films of the year. The both have done two item numbers together – Yeh Mera Dil from DON and a Marjaani Marjaani from BILLU. Both saw instant success as the chemistry was rather sensational.

Kareena shared screen with Salman Khan twice. The first one, KYON KI, was a hit but MAIN AUR MRS KHANNA was not up to the mark. But people loved their chemistry on the screen.

Kareena who is now in a relationship with Saif Ali Khan has done a couple of movies with him including TASHAN and KURBAAN. TASHAN failed to impress the audience whereas in KURBAAN people loved there chemistry and the movie was not all that bad. The duo will soon be seen together in their upcoming movies.

Kareena shared the screen with Aamir Khan in 3 IDIOTS which was the biggest hit of 2009 and grabbed many awards too. Their Jodi was great on screen. Along with beau Saif, Bebo also has movies with Aamir in the coming times.

We wonder what Kareena thinks about having the best chemistry with.

There was a time when Rani Mukerjee was ruling the roost in the Hindi film industry and was a favourite with the Karan Johar-Shah Rukh Khan camp. After KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI, Rani Mukerjee’s presence had become a must in most Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar movies, be it SRK’s home banner ventures like CHALTE CHALTE and PAHELI or Karan’s very own Dharma Productions.

However with the passage of time things have changed and so has the lead actress in the Karan-SRK camp. If we look into the last few years gone by we will see that Kareena Kapoor has somehow managed to replace Rani from her pedestal. Not that Kareena is a new entrant to the Karan-SRK camp. She has already worked with them years ago in SRK’s historical ASOKA and Karan’s KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM. But off late Kareena has become a permanent fixture in most of their projects. Karan’s KURBAAN, WE ARE FAMILY and SRK’s ambitious sci-fi project RA.ONE can be cited as examples.

Well, certainly Kareena is one of the few actresses, who shares a cordial relationship with all the three Khans. She is already doing MY LOVE STORY opposite the newly re-invented Salman Khan and has an all time blockbuster with Aamir Khan in the form of 3 IDIOTS. Need we say more!

Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming venture Heroine seems to be caught up in controversy after controversy. News has it that the movie’s lead aka Heroine, Kareena Kapoor, is having second thoughts about this alleged Marilyn Monroe-inspired saga. And it’s just not one particular reason that may be responsible for the change of mind.

Sources state that Kareena has not been happy with Bhandarkar for quite some time now. Apparently, Madhur ill-treated Lovely Singh’s father, who coincidently is Bebo’s very good friend; in fact she had even done a dance number for him in his directorial debut Kya Love Story Hai. Lovely’s father was made to wait by Madhur in spite of having an appointment and finally he refused to meet him. Things worsened when she came to know that the script included intense lovemaking scenes with 5 different actors. Previously, she had done a similar scene with Saif Ali Khan in Kurbaan, but that was only because it was her boyfriend and she has clearly mentioned that she is not comfortable doing such scenes with other co-stars. Just when it looked like things would get better after the director agreed to tone down the scenes, it seems that there are more things in the script which are not going down well with this heroine. Apparently, an important track in the movie shows her character having an affair with a married co-star with two kids. No prizes for guessing what’s making her uncomfortable. It definitely sounds quite similar to her real life love story with Saif. And these differences are now being made aware to Madhur not directly but through the dialogue writer Niranjan Iyengar (of Kurbaan, Wake Up Sid and My Name is Khan fame).

A source close to the movie said that this happens to be the major reason why Bebo is uneasy doing the film. While Niranjan says that he is unaware of the story and has only been asked to pen the dialogues, screenplay writer Manoj Tyagi said that it is Madhur’s prior commitments which have lead to the delay of the movie. Co-writer Anuraadha Tewari said, “We haven’t yet locked the script. Writers don’t get into the casting of a film, that’s strictly between the director and the actor. As far as I know, Kareena is not running away from Heroine.”

A meeting has now been set up between the two uncompromising parties. Wonder what the outcome will be!

“The journey has been colourful. I don’t think any other actress has been able to do such varied roles. Whether it was Refugee, Dev, Chameli, Omkara, Jab We Met, 3 Idiots or Kurbaan, the films had a varied spectrum,” Kareena Kapoor says, as she turns 30 on September 21. The actress, who also completes 10 years in the industry this year, has given us some great DVDs for our shelves.

“I got to do different roles — some were liked and some were not — but I am happy as long as I attempted to do them well,” Kareena continued.

Refugee occupies a special place in her heart, since that was her debut. Also, Kareena as says, “It proved me as an actress.”

The other films that she considers turning points in her career were Jab We Met and Omkara.

She’s hogged the limelight for more than just her acting — the size-zero debate, her sizzling romance with beau Saif Ali Khan… And, quietly completed a decade in the industry. As for her films, there have been many memorable performances, and a few, not so. Kareena Kapoor opens up on how she has matured over the years, her ‘colourful’ journey, her relationships, and her much-awaited We Are Family. Excerpts…

You’ve completed 10 years in the industry. How has the journey been?

Colourful! My first film Refugee is very special to me because I’ve been particular about being an actor, not a glam doll. My roles in Refugee, Dev, Chameli, Omkara, Jab We Met, 3 Idiots and Kurbaan have been varied; not many actors have done this. Some people have liked my work, some haven’t, but as I said, the journey has been colourful.

And, real life?

I’m a fun-lover who loves spending time with family and friends.

Your latest film We Are Family, the remake of the Julia Roberts-Susan Sarandon hit Stepmom, has a mature topic and a new director

I never felt it was Siddharth Malhotra’s first film as a director. He’s from a filmy family; he’s filmy himself. Siddharth is a very sensitive person.

He says you’ve surpassed Julia Roberts in the film…

It’s an honour that (producer) Karan Johar and Siddharth thought I could essay the role played by Julia Roberts. To me, after Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts is the finest actor. I haven’t watched We Are Family yet, but those who have, congratulated me. But, it’d be wrong to compare the two because the films were made in different times. And, the Hindi film industry is completely different in its approach. But, I’m satisfied with my performance. The character I’ve played is very forward-thinking, contemporary and powerful.

Does your role mirror your real life situation — Saif and his kids…?

No. My personal life and professional life are two different chapters.

You’re acting with Kajol in this film. How was the experience?

It’s an exciting challenge to be working with Kajol!

In Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Kajol and you played sisters. And, now you play the ‘other woman’.

We didn’t have many scenes together in Kabhi…. Here, we are shown as living under the same roof. We both have powerful roles, but I have a more complex and complicated role — it’s very easy to be the one who has the sympathy, but it’s very difficult to win that sympathy. I hope I’ve achieved what I set out to. I want people to say both of us are spectacular, and that it’s difficult to choose.

Has Kajol changed from Kabhi…to We Are Family?

She’s the same — spontaneous, bubbly and oozing energy. It’s lovely to have someone such as her on the sets, and we got along really well. Working with her is a dream come true. She’s a super entertainer.

Kajol says you have matured …

When I was in Kabhi…, I was quite a baby. Since, I’ve done several films, and it’s been a great journey.

Have you seen Kajol as a mother?

Both Kajol and Karisma are hands-on mothers. I don’t know if it’s something to do with their generation. As for me, I haven’t thought about being a mother.

Are you doing Madhur’s Heroine or have you forsaken it for a Karan Johar film?

I have committed to Madhur’s film. He is scripting the film; the script should be ready in two months.

You are way thinner now …

My weight has always been in the news, isn’t it? I’ve put on some weight now, and plan to be this way. I’m fit, I do yoga, I eat healthy — I’m a vegetarian.

What is the one advice you’d give Saif?

To work with Raju Hirani.

Director Madhur Bhandarkar has a task at hand. Kareena Kapoor who’s set to play the leading lady of his next film Heroine has reportedly asked him to change, if possible do away with, the lovemaking scenes she’s supposed to shoot with as many as five different male co-stars in the film.

The movie is said to be inspired from the life of a popular Hollywood heroine who had torrid affairs with many men and eventually became a victim of her own success.

Madhur, known for his exposés of different strata of the society, is training his lens this time on the film industry. But given Bebo’s apprehension to shoot lovemaking scenes, he will have to modify the script.

The steamiest lovemaking scene Bebo has so far shot was in the last year’s super-dud Kurbaan with boyfriend Saif Ali Khan. She also had many smooches with Akshay Kumar in Kambakkht Ishq.

But none of the two men are part of Madhur’s ‘Heroine’.

Kareena Kapoor feels that she has managed to strike the right balance between commercial and meaningful cinema. The actress likes doing different roles and can’t do just those films where she is looking pretty and singing and dancing. The actress considers her debut film ‘Refugee’ (2000), a special one because she always wanted to prove herself as an actress and not to just as a glam doll. Bebo further says films like ‘Refugee’, ‘Chameli’, ‘Omkara’, ‘Jab We Met’, ’3 Idiots’ and ‘Kurbaan’ – all have been very different. She doesn’t think that any other actress has been able to do such a variety of roles in such a short journey.

Meanwhile Karan Johar has asked Kareena to lose weight and chop off her hair to fit in the character of his next film ‘Short Term Shaadi’ opposite Imran Khan. But Bebo denies it, saying that she isn’t going to lose weight. Besides, she says that she is not going to lose weight for anyone. The actress made this comment during the promotion of her forthcoming flick ‘We Are Family’. The film is releasing on 3rd September. However, she confirms having gained a little weight recently, but doesn’t regret it.
