Bollywood is one movie industry where you’re sure to witness a few cat flights. During movie promotions the starlets decide to stick together, but once the movie is declared a hit or a miss, the girls part ways.
So who’s in the middle of a cold war this time? It’s none other than our very own Bebo and Piggy Chops. The two have regularly passed in-direct comments about one another in interviews.
Previously we’ve seen cat flights between the likes of Rani Mukherjee – Aishwarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor – Preity Zinta to name a few. But things can get nasty when the actresses impose on the ex-boyfriends, therefore the name Shahid could have been the cause of this lady brawl.
Kareena who once dated Shahid and then left him for Saif, wasn’t too happy that her friend Priyanka chose to hang out with Shahid, nevertheless this chapter seems to be over now.
So what’s the problem now? The recent buzz is that the Desi Girl visited one of Saif’s film sets to get to know the star better. Many years ago Priyanka broke off all ties with co-star Akshay Kumar after the media went over board speculating about their love affair, so it seems her motives have changed over the years.
Kareena on the other hand has expressed that she loves the pairing of Saif and Deepika, and adds that Saif knows best when it comes to choosing his co-stars and knows which ones to avoid – Ouch!
Priyanka will be seen making a special appearance in Zoya Akhtar’s next film starring Kareena Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan. For the sake of the film producer, thankfully it’s only an appearance .

The new trend in Bollywood is ‘girlbonding’ rather than cat fights. Atleast that is what the camaraderie between Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee says on the set of Reema Kagti’s untitled project with Aamir Khan.

Though Rani and Kareena do not have to share screen space in the movie they reportedly share a very cordial relationship off screen. Both the actresses have scenes with Aamir separately. While shooting in Mumbai Rani and Kareena made the most of their time together off the screen.

After “No one killed Jessica” Rani Mukherjee is driving high on success as she is also coming back with Aamir Khan with whom we saw her in Ghulam.

But the main news is that Rani is cast along with Kareena Kapoor in the project and Kareena who is otherwise famous for her cat fights and sarcastic comments has rather impressed Rani with her attitude this time.

Impressed Rani says, “Kareena’s a fabulous actress and she just keeps getting better and better by the day. It’s fun meeting her at social dos and she’s very entertaining. We’ve made a connection during Mujhse Dosti Karoge and she always exudes very warm vibes.”

Though on one hand we have never seen Bollywood tiring from giving us the news of various competitions and bitching between female actresses, however Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor seems a little different. Let’s see where this new friendship heads.

After a long time the audience will get to see their favourite Aamir Khan in a thriller to be directed by Reema Kagti, and who will star opposite him? – Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee.

The film has not rolled yet as the producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment are busy with Don 2, then too this untitled movie is riding high on buzz and the reason is Aamir. First, there was a lot of speculation over the movie’s actress. Everybody was eager to know who will be paired opposite Aamir.

If Kareena Kapoor’s name was being touted for the main lead, actresses like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and even Katrina Kaif were in the running for another crucial role in the film which is a two-heroine project.

But finally it’s been decided who will be the second actress opposite Aamir. Rani has bagged the role. This is for the first time that Aamir will work with Kareena and Rani together. To know the character sketches of the stars, we have to wait.

The movie is expected to go on floors by early next year.

Karan Johar is in a bit of tizzy. This week the recording of an episode of his Koffee With Karan featuring Sanjay Leela Bhansali with Hrithik Roshan has fallen through.

Says a source, “Most of the celebs who have agreed to come on the show want to do so when they have a film to promote.

That is only fair. For example, Aamir Khan has agreed to come on Koffee With Karan with his wife Kiran Rao when Dhobi Ghat releases at the end of January. In the middle of January Karan will ask his gal pals Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan to appear on the show to coincide with the release of their film No One Killed Jessica.

Similarly he wanted one of his favourite directors Sanjay Leela Bhansali to be on Koffee With Karan with leading man Hrithik on the eve of the release of Guzaarish. But this fell through.”

In a spot, Karan was last heard approaching his soul sister Kareena Kapoor to be on the show with her beau Saif Ali Khan. The Saif-Kareena pair has sportingly agreed to bail Karan out at the eleventh hour.

Karan Johar’s not-so-brief illness has put his chat show in a quandary. The four episodes that he has so far recorded are rapidly drying up. The new set of guests is yet to be decided. That leaves Karan with a very narrow time-margin to arrange his guests.

When contacted about the conversational crisis Karan sighed, “At this rate I’ll have to put myself on the couch. I can interview myself. That should make good viewing.”

Karan Johar usually asks his actors and actresses to go slim, and this he has practiced right from his first film when he asked Rani Mukherjee to lose weight for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Also he is the man behind Imran Khan’s hot, lean look for I Hate Luv Storys.

Now it’s said that the producer, who is planning a film with Imran and Kareena Kapoor on the lines of Ashton Kutcher-Cameron Diaz’s 2008 Hollywood hit What Happens in Vegas, wants Bebo again to be size zero.

The planning for the film which is tentatively titled Short Term Shaadi has started and Bebo’s look for the movie is going to be striking. It’s heard that she will also go in for a short hair-cut for the film to look as young as Imran.

About Bebo going back to her anorexic days, a source tells a daily, “It is ironical. Kareena had just started eating to look slightly rounded because her boyfriend Saif Ali Khan is tired of her looking like a clothes hanger.”

The actors and makers are tight-lipped about the project and whether Bebo, who looks fit without being size zero, will again go for an image change.

What can be more alluring, than having the three most sizzling divas of bollywood, namely, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor and Preity Zinta, sharing screen space for a daring subject, in a movie?

Well, perhaps nothing. That is exactly what is up in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s intelligent mind. So, the director is reportedly planning to get the three of them together for a very daring subject, which is the Red light area of Lahore, in a movie titled ‘Heera Mandi’.

The director had been mulling over the idea for quite sometime, reveal sources. Initially, he had in mind Madhuri Dixit, Rani Mukherjee and Sonam Kapoor. But, now, he seems to have changed his mind and has thought of the new trio to make his flick.

Aishwarya, Kareena and Preity, have all been versatile actresses and have gone from one genre of cinema to another, and all three of them stand as great icons in the bollywood cinematic world.

However, it remains to be seen, whether the project gets finalized or not, and if it does, God! The flick is going to create more than a wild fire in the history of bollywood cinema, undoubtedly!

The popularity quotient is taken into account by delving into the number of products for sale in E-bay.
The products that are available range from all kinds of nick-knacks related to films like – film magazine, DVD’s, VCD’s, Booklets, Pamphlets, Posters, books, lobby cards, films, stickers,etc.
The report suggests that other celebrities like Abhishek Bachchan and Shilpa Shetty were comparatively ranked low in this sector; they had both achieved the 10th slot in the list.

Kareena Kapoor and Aishwarya Bachchan are perfect examples of being famous for their flops. Kareena Kapoor has had it easy, literally. It hasn’t exactly been a rough ride for the Kapoor babe from Day One itself. Even though she left the blockbuster role of female lead in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai against macho Hrithik Roshan to Amisha Patel, she managed to garner much more publicity for her flop debut, Refugee, than what Amisha did for her superhit starter. And that was the beginning of a new mantra to market a diva — hit or no hit, the Brand has to hit the headlines.

And it was this very marketing mantra which saw the rise, rise and only rise for Kareena Kapoor. Even after a spate of flops like Asoka, Yaadein, Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Jeena Sirf Tere Liya, etc the youngest Kapoor kid saw all the big names from Karan Johar to Yash Chopra to Mani Ratnam and Boney Kapoor vying for her attention. Film after film flopped, but nothing changed much for Bebo. She continued to demand very high rates, which paradoxically kept rising with each flop!

And following in her footsteps closely was none other than our very own grey-green eyed goddess, Aishwarya Bachchan who, in spite of not having given a single hit in the start of her career for very long hit the jackpot with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and is the most ‘sought-after’ Bollywood actress today.

So, this is the Bebo-Ash blockbuster story. What is it that makes the two divas eligible for the big league which otherwise has names like Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra who, by now, must have lost count of their hit films? “Both Ash and Bebo have class. I know them closely. They have talent as well as beauty, and I guess this combination is more than enough to please the audience. At the same time, one must not forget that Ash is a big international star,” asserts Showman Subhash Ghai who has earlier directed Ash in Taal and has done as many as Three films with Kareena.

Film critic Indu Mirani punches in a more logical explanation to this unique phenomenon. “I think Aishwarya and Kareena are totally different girls as far as personality and presentation go. But their careers are similar in the sense that they have got all the Good stuff in spite of not having hit films. I think it’s because there are very few actually hot leading ladies in the industry today. Rani, Preity and Priyanka cannot take up all the roles, right? There are very few A-grade heroines. And these two girls know how to present themselves. They are also very media-savvy and hence it has been easy for them,” she says.

But why isn’t it easy for other talented Good-looking girls too as, say, Lara Dutta? Why hasn’t she matched up to this grade? “Kareena, of course, is a pedigreed girl. She has been lucky as she belongs to the Kapoor Khaandaan. She also had her sister Karisma, a superstar in her own right. For Ash, I think it’s more of media hype with her scintillating beauty helping in a big way.” explains Mirani.

And if we throw back a look, this trend doesn’t seem to be very new. There are examples in the past also where artistes, even though they hadn’t given a single hit, had dozens of movies in their kitty. For example, in the 80s, the pinup girl of that time, Sonam, had close to 40 films in her kitty even before her first film was out for review! Similar was the case with Chunky Panday who, apart from Aankhen with Govinda, has no film to be remember him by. But he was one of the hottest dial-a-quote stars of late 80s.

Production designer Bindiya Dutta, wife of filmmaker JP Dutta, and herself hyped as a Hema Malini clone in her heyday, has had the experience of working with Ash and Bebo; and sums it up. “For us, hits and flops are inconsequential. We are only here to do Good work and definitely we choose our leading ladies according to what they suit best. Like Refugee wouldn’t have been the same without Kareena and Umrao Jaan without Ash was unimaginable.” What a hit explanation! Branding, anyone?
