Kapoor, is facing neck-to-neck competition for the ‘Leading Role Female’ actress award at the 12th Annual International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) ceremony scheduled to be held in Toronto June 23-25.
Apart from Bollywood’s other top two beauties – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Katrina Kaif – Kapoor is also facing tough rivalry from Vidya Balan and newcomer Anushka Sharma.

Kapoor has been nominated for her unusual tomboyish character in Rohit Shetty’s romantic comedy thriller Golmaal 3.

The film’s earlier two serials were also hits at the box office and liked all around the world for its different but extraordinary comedy.

Kapoor played the lead role in the movie against Bollywood star Ajay Devgn supported by evergreen disco dancer Mithun Chakraborty, Arshad Warsi, Sharman Joshi, Tushar Kapoor, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Khemu, Sanjay Mishra, Ratna Pathak and Ashwini Khalsekar.

Born into the famous Kapoor family, Kareena is the daughter of Randhir Kapoor and Babita and sister of all-time hot and sexy Karishma Kapoor.

She made her acting debut in the 2000 film Refugee and since then has achieved as many as six Filmfare Awards.

Recently Kareena outsmarted hot actresses like Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra to win Stardust’s 2011 sexiest woman title.

However, in the race for the prestigious IIFA Award for the ‘leading female role’, Kapoor is facing tough competition from megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter-in-law and former Miss Universe Aishwarya Rai, for her classic role in Guzaarish, and former sexiest woman Katrina Kaif for her character in Ranjeeti.

Newcomer Anushka Sharma, who worked with superstar Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, poses yet another threat for Kareena, for Sharma has also been nominated for her masti-filled lead role in Band Baaja Baaraat released in December 2010.

Produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Maheesh Sharma, Band Baaja Baaraat is full of mauj, masti and dhamaal. Anushka Sharma plays a 20-year graduate and ambitious girl who wants to start her own wedding planning business.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who once again appeared with Hrithik Roshan in Bhansali’s extremely emotional and heart-breaking film Guzaarish, is the biggest threat for Kareena Kapoor. Rai played a truly classic and very special role.

In Guzaarish, she was seen as the nurse of Hrithik Roshan, a magician who becomes a quadriplegic when a trick goes wrong.

But Kareena Kapoor stays the front-runner as one of the most popular Bollywood celebrities, and her performances have always raised her to establish her as a style icon for young girls and women. This should be one interesting race.

Actor Kareena Kapoor will soon be among the few lucky Bollywood actors who have had books written on them. Interestingly, Shobhaa and Kareena have met several times to discuss the project, and Kareena, who was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s 2010 release Golmaal 3, is seemingly excited about the same too.

The book will reportedly be on the lines of an acclaimed book based on Victoria Beckham.

It will trace how Kareena Kapoor became the brand she is.

It will also talk about her sense of style, her influences, her idols and how she has become a name in Bollywood to reckon with.

Kareena Kapoor is on cloud nine. She is working on three films with the top three actors of Bollywood Salman Khan (My Love Story), Aamir Khan (Reema Kagti’s untitled next) and Shah Rukh Khan (RA.One).

All three films are lined up for release this year. Added to this, Kareena will also be seen in Short Term Shaadi with Imran Khan, in Agent Vinod with her boyfriend Saif Ali Khan and finally in Rohit Shetty’s remake of Angoor with Shah Rukh.

The list is truly an exhaustive one. A friend of Bebo’s says, “2011 will be Kareena’s most challenging year. But more importantly, the total value of all these films amounts to nearly Rs 300 crore.

No doubt all the films have A-lister heroes, but that she has been cast as the female lead in all of them, proves that filmmakers consider her to be a very dependable proposition, commercially.”

When contacted, Kareena said, “I cannot comment on the logistics or the economics of a film. That’s up to the filmmakers to comment on.

I have always associated myself with quality cinema and anything that has quality has great value attached to it. I will not put a price to my work but I know my value.” And now, so do we.

You may soon see Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor together again if all works as planned. It is said Rohit Shetty, the man behind Golmaal series, is planning to remake the funniest Hindi films of all times Angoor with Shahrukh and Kareena in the lead roles.

The news has it that Rohit Shetty is roping in Shahrukh for the role played by Sanjeev Kumar and Kareena for the role played by Moushumi Chatterjee in the original. It is also said that Tusshar Kapoor would play Deven Varma’s role in this comedy film.

“After he made Golmaal 3, everyone was wondering what Rohit Shetty’s next plans were. People were guessing if he would make a fourth sequel but the director surprised everyone by choosing to work on an Angoor remake. That he decided to work with Shahrukh Khan on this came as a real shocker. It seems that Rohit is now wanting to work only with A-listers,” Mumbai Mirror quoted a source as saying.

Well, it will be a treat to see Shahrukh and Kareena together again!

Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are very upset these days as their real life characters have been portrayed as animated characters in the forth coming Ajay Devgn and Kajol starrer movie titled Toonpur Ka Superrhero.

According to reports, the movie has Ajay Devgn playing the role of a super star and in one of the sequences Ajay the superstar is seen shooting for his film Omkara.

Since the film also had Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor as prime actors, Toonpur Ka Superrhero has the two playing characters from Omkara but in animated form. Saif’s animated character also has a tattoo of Kareena on his hand and Kareena’s animated character is shown as having a great attraction for Ajay Devgn’s character in the film.

Now reports are that such a thing about their characters in the animated form and the spoof on the tattoo in the movie was something which the couple was not aware of at all. It was only after someone close to them went and saw the film and came and told Saif and Kareena that they came to know about the fact.

Saif was quite hurt as he is quite a close friend of Ajay Devgn and would have expected to be told about such a fact from him, moreover the producer of Toonpur Ka Superrhero –Kumar Mangat is also quite close to Saif, as he had produced Omkara too which had Saif and Kareena in it.

Kareena Kapoor on her part was not too pleased as recently she and Ajay Devgn had bonded quite well during the shooting of the Rohit Shetty flick Golmaal 3’.

However, there has been no initiative towards making it obvious to the film maker or the actors of Toonpur –about their feelings, as reportedly Saif and Kareena are waiting to see the film themselves before going into any kind of speculations further in the matter.

That when Kareena Kapoor was pondering whether to be part of Golmaal 3 or not, director Rohit Shetty was seriously considering Priyanka Chopra for the role.

Tashan, for which she lost all those pounds, demanded a certain look, argues the actor, and went on to set a trend of sorts. “Today, all the leading ladies of Bollywood are down by a few sizes,” she points out. “It feels good to have been a role model but it’s impossible for anyone to remain that size forever. Personally, I wouldn’t want to be stuck in the gym all my life. Why would I want to anyway? I’m not getting into a bikini again for sure.”

Karan Johar’s next production, Short Term Shaadi, which pairs her with Imran Khan, along with Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One and Salman Khan’s Bodyguard, she informs, require a more voluptuous look. “I don’t have to be matchstick thin. I can show off my curves now,” she smiles.

I’m playing a hairstylist settled in the US. She’s a Sunshine Girl who doesn’t need shorts or mini skirts,” Kareena argues heatedly.

Last Friday, Golmaal 3 opened in the theatres, and Kareena is elated by the overwhelming response it got, since she doesn’t play a typical Hindi film heroine in the movie. “My character Daboo is one of the heroes too,” she points out. “When Rohit (director Rohit Shetty) told me he wanted to name this gaali spouting tomboy Daboo, I was a little hesitant since it’s my dad’s nickname. But he was tickled by her too even though this Daboo is more Bebo than dad. Despite all the golmaal she creates, Daboo is a bold and responsible girl who holds the plot together.”

Aishwarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor, the two leading actresses of Bollywood are being confronted on this Diwali with their respective movies Vipul Shah’s “Action Replayy” and Rohit Shetty’s “Golmaal 3”. Action Replayy and “Golmaal 3” is going to have rather tough competition after certain movies like “Knockout”, “Crook”, Jhootha Hi Sahi” and “Aakrosh” proved duds at box office. The speculations over the fate of these two Diwali releases are at its peak. “Golmaal 3” promises to bring yet another laughter ride with the increased doze of fun and humor whereas “Action Replayy” is romantic comedy set in the backdrop of retro era has also the caliber to attract the audiences in bulk. Trade predictions are pouring in on the eve of these two current releases. However, the filmmakers and the actors are quite confident about their movies releasing this Diwali.

Pranks were the order of the day during the 40-day schedule of Golmaal 3 in Goa. Even Kareena Kapoor wasn’t spared. One night when she was watching a film in her room, along with her staff, Ajay Devgn, Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor repeatedly banged on her door, only to disappear when

“Bebo (Kareena) knew it was one of us playing a prank on her, as when they opened the door, they would find no one outside. After a while, she got tired of opening the door and came to us saying she knew about the prank and was not going to fall for it,” says Talpade.

While she was talking to the other co-stars, Talpade slipped into her room and hid in her cupboard. “When she came back to her room, she and her staff were laughing at how the boys failed to pull off the prank on her. While saying this, she opened the cupboard and I jumped out. We yelled at the same time.”

“Luckily she wasn’t angry but accepted that this prank worked. She has a sporting spirit that way,” says Talpade, who plays Laxman, Bebo’s best friend in the film. “My character Laxman stammers a lot and Bebo is the only one who waits to listen to me in the film. Our track has some rib-tickling moments.”

Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 3 is the story of animosity between two sets of siblings within a family. “I play Gopal’s (enacted by Ajay Devgn) brother. Gopal, a softie at heart, loses his cool at the drop of a hat and I try to pacify him all the time,” says Talpade.

He admits that Ajay Devgn is the leader of the brat pack, saying, “Ajay is a super prankster on the set. You have to keep a constant vigil because you never know what he’ll do next.”
