The latest buzz from B-town is that Bollywood babe Kareena Kapoor is set to hit the red light district! Kapoor plans to do so for her next flick, Heera Mandi. Kareena Kapoor ought to be flattered. She is being sought rather desperately by filmmaker Sudhir Mishra for his film Dhruv.

The movie will be a modern day interpretation of Devdas. And before you yawn and mutter “not again!”, let us tell you that Mishra promises to come up with a very new and fresh take on Devdas.

In Mishra’s words, it’s going to be more of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Sarat Chandra’s Devdas.

To play the role of Pooja (modern-day Paro), Sudhir is seeking Kareena Kapoor. And he says that no other actress except Kareena can do the role because it was written with her in mind.

Farhan Akhtar and Sudhir Mishra won’t make Dhruv, the new version of Devdas, without Kareena Kapoor as the contemporary Paro.

There was some thought over shifting Mishra’s favourite Chitrangada into Kareena’s role, but the producer-director has decided that he will not make Dhruv until Kareena agrees to do the role.

“It works only with Kareena, no one else. I’m willing to go down on my knees to get her to do the film. But she can’t say no. It’s a role specially written for her,” says Mishra.

Kareena Kapoor might have had no hit ever since ‘Jab We Met’, but her nose-diving performance at the Box Office has had little or no effect on her popularity with the filmmakers.

So even as we wait for the Kapoor lass to live upto her image, ace taskmasters like Farhan Akhtar and Sudhir Mishra are intensely chasing the actress for their modern version of ‘Devdas’ titled ‘Dhruv’. And Kareena has been offered the role of none other than Paro.

According to sources, even though Mishra’s favourite Chitrangada was initially thought for fitting into Kareena’s role, the producer-director team decided against it.
